For the second year, Revelation in Recovery creates meaningful pathways to connect recovery-sustaining values and Jewish practices for Jews in recovery from mental and physical illness through the tradition of counting the Omer between Passover and Shavuot.

When I came home from a residential treatment facility shortly before Passover in 2020, I felt like my Jewish practices were colliding rather than aligning with my recovery needs. Hoping I was not alone in that experience, I started an Instagram account. Revelation in Recovery creates a space to embrace both recovery goals and spiritual needs through daily writing prompts that connect counting the Omer with prompts for self-reflection and growth in recovery.

As the project grew, I realized that what had started as a side project in the midst of a global pandemic filled a need for Jewish people in recovery. I partnered with recovery advocate and social worker Maia Campbell to continue creating content and connecting people at any stage and age in recovery.

I update the prompts daily from Passover through Shavuot in the tradition of counting the Omer. Whether you are in early recovery or consider yourself fully recovered, you are welcome to read and write along with the nearly 100 people who follow Revelation in Recovery and to explore how Jewish traditions can enrich and sustain your recovery.
