For the rockingest seder in town, check out “The Rock ’N’ Roll Haggadah” by Meredith Ochs and Kay Miller, just released by the Simon & Schuster imprint Simon Element. Not to worry: The whole service as we know it is there in English, Hebrew and transliteration. But there are also lots of rock ‘n’ roll additions (like “Maror: What Is It Good For?” and “Enjoy Every Hillel Sandwich”), as well as DIY projects, such as how to fashion a vinyl record seder plate. And, of course, a curated playlist.
New York native Ochs had her bat mitzvah at the Western Wall and went on to become an NPR commentator, the first female editor of Guitar World Magazine, a Rolling Stone contributor and host of the “Freewheelin'” Sirius XM show. Miller, an Ohio native with a fine arts degree, was active in the late-1970s New York punk scene. (Check out her drawing of Joey Ramone [Jeffrey Hyman] as taller than the pyramids!)
Here’s a great way to bond across generations and get that seder rockin’ and rollin’—ours will be!
