We are pleased to announce that tomorrow – June 19th – we will be traveling to Ukraine to support our partners in the Dnepropetrovsk Kehillah Project (DKP). As Ukraine and her Jewish community confront yet another pivotal moment in history, we are reminded of the invaluable impact of CJP, JCRC, and the Boston community. For over two decades, the Boston Jewish community has engaged in a working partnership with the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community. What was once a suppressed and nearly disappearing Jewish community has become one that is thriving and an anchor for all of Ukraine.
Boston’s role in this revival has been significant since the fall of the Soviet Union and we continue our collaboration amidst yet another historical moment. Additionally, our partnership has developed in our own Boston community a renowned sense of commitment to global Jewish identity and community. We will continue to work together with our partners to ensure the vitality of the Jewish community in Dnepropetrovsk.
Over the course of three days, we will experience Shabbat with the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community; meet with community leaders and agency partners including the JDC and JAFI, as well as directors of DKP programs. This visit will set the stage for our upcoming program year as we transition into a new reality for the Ukrainian Jewish community. JCRC is grateful for the continued dedication of CJP and Boston’s Jewish community to strengthening this partnership.
