In an attempt to address the social isolation that many of us are feeling, Yachad has created an initiative called “Yachad Virtual Buddies,” which brings inclusive social opportunities to the comfort of your home.
People with disabilities, volunteers, peers, community members and advisors from across the country are encouraged to sign up for this program.
By signing up, individuals commit to spending 20 minutes per week speaking to their virtual buddy. Once signed up for the program, participants will be matched with peers/community members/advisors to be buddies; they can then connect using an app called Sruly, which allows for safe and monitored connections without needing to exchange personal information. Through Sruly, buddies can video chat, audio chat, instant message or play virtual games.
We hope this will be a special opportunity to connect people from across the globe!
