What do you think of when you raid the fridge? Many of us enjoy meals several times a day with the occasional snack(s). It is so easy to get caught up in the world of habit. Hungry. Food. Eat. Hungry. Food Eat.
However, eating can be a tremendously deep and elevating experience. When we stop and appreciate the food that we eat in new ways, we exercise our G-d given ability to think and thus elevate ourselves above the animals.
Animals don’t think twice about the miracle of their food. Judaism provides us with an opportunity to train ourselves to deeply appreciate the everyday gifts are the easiest to take for granted.

This is one of the many reasons why we pronounce special supplications before partaking of a meal or even enjoying a delicious snack. We are reconnecting the natural miracles of the mundain physical world back to the Source of all blessing thus playing our role as vibrant participants elevating ourselves, our community and the world around us.
