Interested in volunteering? Volunteering is a great extracurricular activity that looks good on college applications. Volunteering shows colleges that you dedicated your time and effort to helping others!

Once again, Jookender Family Camp is looking to extend our offerings to teen volunteers ages 15-19. This Sept. 7-9, we will be able to accept up to 24 teen volunteers. With Jookender, it’s easy to be yourself and make great friends at the same time. Plus, learn how to apply Jewish values to an everyday secular life.

All teens will live together in the bunkhouse. There is a room for boys and a room for girls. During the day, volunteers accompany kids from one class to another, assist an instructor in the classroom or entertain younger kids in between classes. In their free time, teens are welcome to use all camp facilities and equipment (private beach, lake, boats, climbing wall, archery field, obstacle course, etc.) and participate in any adult or child workshop. There will be a few workshops run just for volunteers as well.

The camp is for Russian-speaking and English/Russian-speaking families. As a volunteer, you should speak English; Hebrew and Russian are a plus but not a requirement.

If you have any special skills and can teach younger kids, you will also have the opportunity to teach classes.

We pay for your stay: lodging and six full meals is included. We will also provide you with a document stating how many community service hours you served. Our volunteers earn eight to 30 hours, depending how many days they volunteer.

You’ll also earn a $25 Amazon gift card if you bring five more volunteers with you!
