This winter, our Greater Boston community is reading “Here I Am,” the New York Times best-seller by Jonathan Safran Foer. This provocative novel is sure to have everyone talking, and we hope you’ll join the conversation. Then, this spring, we’ll all come together to hear from Foer himself at a free event sponsored by CJP’s Jewish Learning and Engagement team.

What’s the book about?

“Here I Am” follows a Jewish family in crisis and examines how they approach divorce through their identity as Jewish Americans and Israelis. Amid these turbulent times, a major earthquake in the Middle East creates a new set of challenges, both political and personal.

How do I participate?

Organizations across Greater Boston will have book clubs discussing “Here I Am.” Visit JewishBoston.com/ReadOn and find the right one for you. You can also start a club informally with your friends, or take some time for yourself and read it on your own. No matter what, we hope you’ll sign up to join CJP’s Online Book Club—we’ll have a study guide and discussion questions there, and you can even receive Read On email updates.

Copies can be ordered from Amazon or the bookseller of your choice.

When is the free event with the author?

On Wednesday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m., together with several hundred Greater Boston Jewish community readers, we’ll enjoy a fascinating evening with Jonathan Safran Foer. There is no cost for this CJP-sponsored event. We encourage you to save the date, and let everyone know about this exciting opportunity. Look for your invitation early this spring.
