There are no words of comfort to support one another around the horrific kidnapping and brutal murder of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas. There is, however, a beautiful Jewish value we can put into action—may their memory be for a blessing. Six words of comfort that remind us to honor the departed with doing mitzvot, blessings through actions.
The image of Shiri enveloping Ariel and Kfir in a blanket as they are stolen from their home will be forever seared in our memory. Though we do not know them, we feel close to them. We relate to them because they remind us of who we are and of those we love—our mothers, our children, our grandchildren, our friends.
Lappin Foundation is offering a collection of curated children’s books about Israel to the children’s rooms of local Massachusetts public libraries in memory of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas. As parents and children enjoy reading the books together, they will learn what is special, beautiful, exciting and fun about Israel, a blessing in memory of the Bibas family. Putting something good back into the world is our small act of remembrance for this beautiful family.
