The couple will be recognized for their exceptional dedication and commitment to Rashi. The Janowers, co-chairs of the RISE Campaign with Jessica and Chuck Myers, have exhibited exceptional leadership skills to the school as well as to the local Jewish community.

Fischer. “Their work on behalf of The Rashi School is truly outstanding and we are profoundly grateful for their enduring passion, vision, dedication, and support. It is a privilege to recognize these talented individuals for their exceptional leadership.”

Cindy and Andrew Janower, residents of Needham, are the proud parents of three daughters who are thriving graduates of Rashi: Mikki, ’12, Sammi, ’15, and Ali, ’18. “The Rashi School is an important, valuable, and unique asset to the Boston Jewish community and played a seminal role in helping our kids become the adults they are today,” said Cindy and Andrew, adding that, “Now it is our turn to inspire others.”

Cindy Janower is an independent strategy consultant and angel investor in early stage companies as well as a dedicated leader in Boston’s Jewish community. She chaired Rashi’s Board of Trustees from 2006-2010 during a period of profound transformation, helping to implement the innovations funded by the Peerless Excellence Grant. Over the past 20 years, Cindy co-led the school’s strategic plans in 2005 and 2014 and has served on numerous board committees. She served as chair of Combined Jewish Philanthropies’ Board of Directors in 2019-2020 and has chaired several CJP committees, including the 2015 Boston Community Study and the 2017 CJP Strategic Plan. Currently Cindy serves on the board of the Jewish Federations of North America. Cindy earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School, her B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania, and her B.S.E. from its Wharton School. In her free time, Cindy reads widely and loves travel, fitness, and healthy cooking.

Andrew Janower (AJ) is a managing director at Charlesbank Capital Partners, a private equity firm where he focuses on the consumer and business services sectors. AJ currently serves on the boards of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Facing History and Ourselves, and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF), where he is the immediate past chair. He also serves on CJP’s Board of Managers and co-founded the Pediatric Low Grade Astrocytoma Foundation. AJ has been instrumental in founding the nonprofits iTrek, which brings non-Jewish influential graduate students to Israel, and College Affordable, which helps high school students and their families across Massachusetts select the right school and solve the riddle of financial aid to ensure college affordability for all. AJ earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his B.S.E. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. AJ is an avid biker and skier.

This year all guest tickets will be $36 each, which includes a cocktail hour, seated dinner, and entertainment. “We wanted this event to be a joyous celebration for everyone who supports The Rashi School,” explained Fischer. The Annual Dinner marks the public launch of RISE, a $30M+ comprehensive campaign to ensure the future of The Rashi School. In the first two years alone, the campaign has raised over $26 million.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres kick off the event at 6 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and program at 7 p.m. (dietary laws observed). The Seaport Hotel Boston is located at 1 Seaport Lane in Boston.
