Marblehead sophomores and Derek Sheckman Award recipients, Aidan and Lucy New, are leading an online donation drive benefiting New England Lab Rescue.
In Aidan and Lucy’s words:
Last summer, we rescued a corgi named Chloe. Since rescuing Chloe, she has become an integral part of our family! Our personal connection to rescuing a dog in need of a good home has inspired us to center our Derek Sheckman service project on helping rescue dogs and the organizations that serve them.
We are organizing a drive to collect items for New England Lab Rescue (NELR). This organization saves labs from high-kill shelters in the South, and brings them to foster and forever homes in New England. They have requested new toys, dog food, dog beds, etc. for their animals, and we hope to come together to enlist our broader community’s help! Now through May 3, please visit the Amazon wishlist to contribute food, treats, toys and more.
The Derek M. Sheckman Teen Leadership Award is given annually to North Shore teens committed to helping make a difference in the world around them, continuing Derek Sheckman’s legacy of leadership and compassion through service. Recipients receive project guidance, seed money and marketing support. We are now accepting nominations from clergy, teachers, and coaches for the 2020-2021 year. Nominate a teen now!
