StandWithUs’ Teen Leadership Council (TLC) Fall 2024 is officially open! The Teen Leadership Council is open to all high school students and runs each semester. The program brings students together to grow their knowledge of Israel, learn how to effectively combat antisemitism, and develop leadership skills. The TLC members meet virtually three or four times during the semester with StandWithUs professional staff to cover various educational topics and engage with their peers.
Students receive mentorship to create a program for their peers through their high schools, school clubs, youth groups, places of worship, or elsewhere. TLC participants create unique and engaging presentations to fulfill the program requirement.
StandWithUs staff are equipped to guide students through the program planning process, including logistics and topic. For example, a StandWithUs TLC participant in Los Angeles held a media bias training session for their peers in a youth group. The students learned about identifying misinformation and disinformation about Israel and practiced recognizing bias in articles from multiple sources about the same topic. Another TLC participant in Dallas held a program about Israeli food for their Israel club. The student taught the audience how to make Israeli hummus and shared a presentation on the history of Israeli food, demonstrating how the diverse population influences the cuisine in Israel.
Program expectations
Participants will be expected to attend three out of four workshops throughout the semester and will then be responsible for planning one project in their community.
Exemplary participants will gain priority access to future leadership opportunities like the StandWithUs International Conference: Israel In Focus and the StandWithUs Kenneth Leventhal High School Internship.
