Timed with the beginning of the academic year, the two organizations are coming together to launch a webinar series and a mentorship program. The co-hosted webinars will focus on job readiness, especially in the Age of Covid, covering core skills like job searching during the pandemic, virtual Interviewing, advanced strategies for online networking, etc. The mentorship program, FutureUp: Mentoring for Emerging Professionals, will pair juniors, seniors and recent college graduates with Jewish community leaders working in fields that match their personal interests.
“For over 80 years, our mission and services have been guided by a set of core values deeply rooted in traditional Jewish teachings. We are excited to join forces with Hillel Council of New England to extend our expertise to college students and recent graduates at a time when they need it most,” said Jonathan Nierman, Chief Development Officer at JVS.
“Each year we welcome students to campus and help them foster a sense of community,” said Miriam Blue, Assistant Director at Hillel Council of New England. “Through this partnership with JVS, in addition to nurturing their spiritual life, we can now help grow their professional careers as well. This is an exciting opportunity for us and our students.”
Since 1938, Jewish Vocational Service has been helping individuals build careers and families secure financial independence. JVS is the most prominent workforce development nonprofit in Boston. Hillel Council of New England, a division of Hillel International, is the central hub for Jewish campus life in Greater Boston, supporting the on-campus experience for students and professionals through regional programming and professional development.
