NEWTON, Mass., May 13, 2016
The Jewish Teen Foundation of Greater Boston (JTFGB) is proud to announce the close of their fundraising campaign for 2015-16 and the six organizations that have been selected to receive grants from the pilot cohort of this groundbreaking new program.
After 10 months of monthly meetings and intensive training in consensus building, grant-making, and fundraising, the 36 teens in the two philanthropy boards, one based at Prozdor of Hebrew College and one at Gann Academy, raised over $33,500 from over 440 different donors, exceeding their fundraising projections by over $10,000.
After a thorough RFP and review process, the Hebrew College board will be allocating three grants to organizations working to combat poverty: New England Center and Home for Veterans, Catie’s Closet, and Jewish Family & Children’s Service. The Gann Academy board will be allocating three grants to non-profits seeking to empower youth through education: Breakthrough Greater Boston, Central Asia Institute, and College Bound Dorchester.
Representatives from the six grant recipient organizations will join the entire teen cohort, the JTFGB Advisory Council, Hebrew College and Gann Academy staff, and many others at the end-of-year celebration on Tuesday, May 24, at 7 pm at Hebrew College.
JTFGB is an incubator program of the Jewish Teen Funders Network and will be expanding in its second year of 2016-17. Nominations and applications for the Year Two cohort are open and spaced are limited.
