The Jewish History year is moving right along at Kesher Newton, and last week, our Shorashim (Kindergarten and 1st graders) got to experience the crossing of the Jordan River and settlement in the Land of Israel by Joshua and B’nei Yisrael.

created at: 2010-12-14As always, taking the Biblical text and making it accessible to our youngest students requires creativity, enthusiasm, and careful planning, but our two Shorashim teachers were up to the challenge.  Here are two brief snapshots (literally) of how the children experienced the stories.

In the first picture, note the larger-than-the-children walls of Jericho that were hand-painted by Rena and Liad.  The students saw the walls, heard the story of the Battle of Jericho and the sound of the Shofar, and were amazed by the story.

Hands-on, interactive, experiential, creative, and fun… just another day at Kesher  Newton.
