It’s a busy month for Mamaleh’s: The Jewish deli, with locations in Kendall Square and Brookline, launches its third location on Wednesday, March 2, at downtown’s new High Street Place food hall. (Full disclosure: I wrote a big preview for The Boston Globe).
Mamaleh’s (which is not kosher) will sell all the deli favorites you know and love in a much smaller, stall-style space (there’s also table service throughout the building and outside). On the menu: chopped liver, Rachels, Reubens, pastrami, corned beef and matzah ball soup, plus merchandise such as mugs and totes. There’s also a small kids’ menu with hot dogs and grilled cheese. I’m psyched to eat my way through each stall with my brood, especially since you don’t have to schlep a tray to your table.
They also have plenty in the works for Purim: Mamaleh’s Rachel Sundet leads an hourlong virtual hamantaschen-making class on Sunday, March 6, at 3:30 p.m., hosted by Lappin Foundation and PJ Library. Mamaleh’s also offers hamantaschen pre-orders for the week of Purim (March 14-20). They’ll make chocolate-toffee, raspberry-halvah and date-walnut-white-chocolate versions a la carte or as a boxed dozen. A sweet bonus: 10% of all hamantaschen sales will go to the Polish Humanitarian Action to help assist Ukrainian refugees at the Polish border escaping the violence as part of the Hamantaschen for Ukraine fundraiser.
Last but not least: They also offer mishloach manot ($36) for nationwide shipping.
