Jane Sherrill has been a dedicated visual artist for over 30 years. She works in a variety of media, including acrylic and oil paint, mixed-media, colored pencil, graphite and sculpture. Her many exhibitions include Off The Wall at Danforth Art Museum in Framingham and a solo show at Harbor Gallery UMass Boston. She has been awarded painting fellowships from the Somerville Arts Council, a residency and merit grant from Vermont Studio Center and a fellowship from Medicine Wheel Artists’ Retreat.
Jane’s work is represented in numerous collections, including the Gustavo Cisneros collection, Venezuela; Children’s Hospital Boston; and Kaiser & Wilson Design, Ltd, New York. Jane’s work was recently reviewed in Artscope magazine. She has been interviewed on television, radio, newspapers and magazines. In 2003 The Boston Globe’s art critic Cate McQuaid chose Jane’s solo show “Human” for her “Critics’ Picks” column. Though Jane’s education is in an unrelated career field, as an artist she is self-taught. She works in her studio, Vernon Street Studios, in Somerville. The Daniels Art Gallery provides temporary exhibitions of artists from across the East Coast. Works across the visual arts spectrum are displayed on a monthly basis and are available for purchase. The goal of the gallery is to bring uplifting and interesting artwork of various mediums for the enjoyment of the patients, staff and visitors.
Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, which is part of Hebrew SeniorLife, is located at 1200 Centre St., Boston. The gallery is accessible via the third-floor entrance.
