Renowned for its overnight camp in Palmer and successful day camp outside Washington, D.C., Ramah New England is excited to bring the Ramah day camp experience to Greater Boston with Ramah Day Camp Greater Boston.
The inaugural program will run the week of Aug. 15-19 and serve kids who just completed grades pre-K through 3. Ramah New England is thrilled to be hosted by Gann Academy for this pilot utilizing an incredible space in the Boston Jewish community.
The Ramah emphasis on camper care distinguishes Camp Ramah as a premier summer experience. Making sure that each camper is safe, happy and secure, and that summer will be a time of growth, excitement, learning and fun are the centerpieces of the Ramah experience. Just as it is at Camp Ramah New England and Ramah Day Camp Greater D.C., the well-being of each and every camper is our top priority.
Rabbi Ed Gelb, CEO of Ramah New England, shares: “People come up to me everywhere I go and tell me, ‘I went to Camp Ramah and it changed my life Jewishly.’ We are so excited to be able to offer a Ramah experience to younger children in the Boston area!”
The pilot program will be led by Leora Kimmel Greene, an energetic, detail-oriented event and project manager with a deep love and commitment to Camp Ramah and the Boston Jewish community. Kimmel Greene is the founder of One28 Strategic Events and spent 11 summers at Camp Ramah New England, including several years as part of the Camp Ramah New England year-round leadership team. She and her husband met at Camp Ramah New England in beautiful Palmer and currently live in West Roxbury with their two daughters.
When the opportunity arose to join Ramah to help launch the new day camp, she could not say no. Kimmel Greene said, “Selfishly, I am thrilled for my own children to have the unique Ramah experience here in Boston and see this as critical growth for the Ramah overnight experience.”
