As an obstetrician and gynecologist, I have performed hundreds of hospital-based circumcisions before becoming certified as a mohelet (a female mohel) by the Berit Mila Board of Reform Judaism of the Hebrew Union College to perform infant circumcision and ritual baby-naming services. My interest in becoming a mohelet began when my oldest daughter was born, and a female OB/GYN performed her baby-naming ceremony. I thought this was a wonderful way to connect with the Jewish community and share my medical training while helping families fulfill the mitzvah of berit mila. I am honored to have recently been chairperson-elect of the National Organization of American Mohelim.

Having returned to the Northeast from Atlanta, where I was in private practice and worked to promote access to reproductive health care, I am now working as an assistant professor and clinical educator at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School, where I care for patients and enjoy teaching medical students and resident physicians. I continue to work to improve access to reproductive health care. As a teacher, I have been recognized with the Community Based Teacher of the Year award two years in a row and have received several Excellence in Teaching awards. As a clinician, I provided obstetrical and gynecological care as part of the Women and Infants Hospital Alliance. I am board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am also on the clinical faculty at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

I received my undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, having done additional undergraduate work at Columbia University of New York and Oxford University in England. I also graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Maine. My post-graduate training included a rotating medical internship at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. I currently reside in the Boston area with my husband and our dog.
