Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) is the premier Israel academic experience for high school students. Since 1972 AMHSI has shared Israel with generations of teens. Over 27,000 teens are bound by a shared transformative experience, resulting in a deeper connection to Israel and a deeper sense of self.
AMHSI is dedicated to engaging teens to discover and embrace their connection to the history, culture and land of Israel through education, experiences, and understanding. AMHSI is designed for public and independent school students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Students have the opportunity to join groups who travel to Israel five times throughout the school year; as well as during the summer. The program is unique in that it is the only non denominational, pluralistic academic experience for high school juniors and seniors.
Beginning its 40th year, AMHSI has successfully impacted more than 20,000 students.
Alumni include: Matisyahu, members of the Group OAR and the author of “The Devil Wears Prada.”
AMHSI aims to promote, build, and strengthen lifelong bonds between youth and Israel through study of the history and culture of the people of Israel.

Participants embark on an innovative academic adventure where Israel is transformed into a living classroom. Students travel through 4,000 years of history using the land of Israel as their “living classroom.” Students are inspired to “live outside the books,” encounter new ideas and challenge themselves in infinite ways learning about Israel through first-hand experience, numerous, exciting, and unforgettable trips and stimulating conversation with classmates and teachers.
AMHSI is fully accredited, students can continue with all of their high school subjects, including math, science, foreign language, AP classes and IB classes. Students will receive full credit from their home high schools. Students keep up with their home classes working with individual teachers. Students are eligible to receive college credits through the AMHSI program!
AMHSI is not your typical “teen tour” or “travel abroad” experience. Students can individualize their Israel journey, choosing a summer session, an eight-week school year session or an entire semester. All offer an opportunity for a young person to discover their heritage, with study on site and travel to places where history occurred. If a student chooses to go to Israel during the school year, they take classes that allow them to remain current with their general studies at their home high schools.
No matter which session a student chooses, they will live 4,000 years of history while walking along ancient pathways in Jerusalem, hiking through caves, rappelling down a mountain, kayaking in the Jordan River and floating in the Dead Sea with other teens from throughout the United States and the world. AMHSI opens their eyes and minds to the beauty and excitement of Israel! AMHSI is internationally recognized and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Eligible students can also receive six college credits from the University of Miami.
