Musical Performance: “100 Years of Song and Poetry”
The highlight of the evening will be a musical performance by Berklee School of Music’s Tal Shalom-Kobi and an ensemble of Israeli students. They will perform a musical/storytelling concert featuring the works of Israel’s most cherished and popular women songwriters and poets of the past century.
The ensemble will share stories and anecdotes about the lives of poets Leah Goldberg and Rachel, song writers Naomi Shemer, Nurit Hirsh and many others. With new arrangements and fresh interpretations, this will be a unique music experience that will take you on a tour through the lens of history to present day.
The ensemble was founded in 2015 and is led by Tal Shalom-Kobi, a Berklee College of Music professor and a long-time researcher/performer.
Ensemble:
- Noa Blumer – Vocals
- Rinat Fishman – Clarinet
- Itamar Afek – Piano/keyboard
- Tom Maor – Drums
- Tal Shalom-Kobi – Music Director, bass, accordion
Parents and students: While the musical performance is appropriate for all ages, there will be teen activities and childcare offered from 7:15-9 p.m.
