The National Havurah Committee, a network of havurot, individuals and communities, has held an annual weeklong Summer Institute, as well as weekend regional retreats, for many decades. This year’s New England retreat will be held at Camp Ramah in Palmer from Dec. 14-16.

Music, learning and spiritual growth set the tone. A vibrant, musical Kabbalat Shabbat service starts the weekend. Friday evening continues with dinner, singing and course sessions. On Saturday and Sunday, interact in a range of classes, take time for spirited prayer, walk in the woods or at the lake, learn and sing new songs, stretch your body and your mind. There will also be a supervised program for children.

Camp Ramah is about 75 minutes from Boston or Hartford and 90 minutes from Albany or Providence, and convenient to New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont locations. Accommodations are simple, uncrowded, comfortable and fully winterized. Single rooms and “hotel-style” rooms are also available. Meals are kosher, with vegetarian options.
