The talk will demonstrate how secular arguments about ownership, historical precedence, and political rights actually coexist with—and often complement—religious claims. Professor Troen presents a nuanced analysis of how Judaism, Christianity, and Islam each approach questions of legitimacy and sovereignty in the Holy Land, while exploring how these theological perspectives continue to shape contemporary debates.
As a founding scholar of Israel Studies and professor emeritus at both Ben-Gurion University and Brandeis University, Professor Troen offers unique insights into this century-old conflict. His work contributes to a more informed understanding of the persistent issues that have now entered their second century on the international agenda.
