Tisha B’Av—the 9th of Av—is the lowest day of the Jewish calendar, the repository for Jewish collective grief. From the fall of the first and second temples to the expulsion from Spain up to the Holocaust, the day has accumulated our sorrow and despair. If we can locate the brokenness and grief in our bodies, we can move it through to its fullest expression and completion. We all fall down so we can one day stand again.
Join conscious-dance facilitator Joel Stanley and Asiyah’s Rabbi David in an embodied exploration of our moving bodies’ innate wisdom. We’ll connect with ourselves, each other and the energy of this special day in the annual Jewish cycle.
There are no set steps, no dance experience is required and it is impossible to get it wrong. All bodies welcome. Dress comfortably, and set up in a space with some room to move.
