Temple Reyim of Newton is graciously hosting this Oneinforty symposium to educate the community about the 1:40 risk of inheriting a BRCA gene mutation faced by people who have Eastern European Jewish heritage. Men and women who have a BRCA gene mutation are at relatively high risk for developing ovarian, breast, prostate and other cancers. They also have a 50 percent chance of passing their BRCA gene mutation on to each of their sons and daughters.
Come learn about genetic counseling, the rationale for testing for BRCA gene mutations, managing cancer risk, resources available to those who carry BRCA gene mutations and the BRCA Founder Outreach (BFOR) Study. Individuals who have a BRCA gene mutation will share their personal “I am Oneinforty” stories.
Following presentations by each of these panelists, there will be a Q&A session with:
