Tisha B’Av commemorates the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem, which both occurred on the same date. It has also come to encompass mourning for the many other tragedies of our people.

From the beginning of the month of Av, traditional Jews don’t eat meat, drink wine (except on Shabbat), wear new clothing and can include fasting (anyone whose health would be endangered by fasting should not do so). Some members remove their shoes before entering the sanctuary for this service.

We will be watching the thought-provoking movie “God On Trial.” Awaiting their inevitable deaths at one of the worst concentration camps, a group of Jews make a rabbinical court to decide whether God has gone against the Holy Covenant and if He is the one guilty for their suffering.

Schedule for the evening:

6:15 p.m. – Dessert
6:45 p.m. – Movie
8:40 p.m. – Havdalah
9 p.m. – Discussion/Service

We hope you will join us for this important evening. The program is free and open to the public. Encourage others to join you!
