The 929 Project is a new worldwide program that began in Israel three years ago and, now in its second cycle, has expanded to the English-speaking world. Participants are guided each day, five days a week, to read a chapter of the Hebrew Bible, and after 929 days they will have completed the entire Bible.
Each month we will be discussing relevant themes in the previous chapters. Rachel will facilitate each class and expose participants to various texts (both Jewish and secular).
For the Dec. 11 meeting, our theme will be Rituals of Intimacy: Book of Vayikra through that day’s reading (Vayikra 18).
Keeping on schedule with the daily chapters is not necessary for participation in the class.
Rachel Sharansky Danziger grew up in Jerusalem, where she completed degrees in philosophy and history and taught Tanach to new immigrants. Her master’s focused on the way 18th-century American protoevangelicals told their personal stories, and what their stories tell us about their experiences of emotions and self. Rachel explored similar connections between stories, religion and emotions in workshops she led that combined Torah study and creative writing. She blogs about Judaism, Israel and parenting for The Times of Israel, Kveller and other online venues.
