The Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies and the Friends of the Arava Institute invite you to hear about the critical environmental peace-building work of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank and Jordan.
The Middle East is an extremely vulnerable global hot spot for climate change. Environmental stress affects water, energy and agriculture, leading to public health crises and climate refugees. In recognition of this pressing reality, the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies is working with Palestinian and Jordanian partners on projects related to climate crisis mitigation and resilience. Dr. Tareq Abu Hamed, executive director of the Arava Institute, and Dr. David Lehrer, director of international development, will present the Institute’s latest initiatives in water, food security, renewable energy and public health.
Registration is required. Proof of vaccination will be required at the door, and masks will be required during the event. We recommend taking public transit; if you are driving, we recommend Lot K at Warren Towers or the Rafik Hariri Garage for parking.
