As we walk into Shavuot, let us take a moment to remember how each one of us, each one of our unique voices, and each of our unique experiences, matter in community, deserving to be seen, to be heard, deserving to be validated, respected, and acknowledged.
Join us in examining the Book of Ruth as a blueprint for the society we want to live in and how this biblical example of society, one where marginalized voices are heard, holds up today. Rabbi Sarah Mulhern, Avigayil Halperin, and R’ Aliza Sperling will look to the text of Megillat Ruth for examples of how individuals and society address voices that are not always centered. They will be joined by Hadar Schwartz, Ph.D., a trauma-informed clinician who will offer her expert framing, relating our learning to our communal experiences today.
Join us for this critical communal conversation in partnership with the SRE Network. This is important learning. We are grateful to be doing it together with you.
Please be aware that this gathering will touch on gender-based vio|ence and sexual abuse. We want to hold our community as best we can; please do what you need to care for yourself around these topics.
As always, our learning is incomplete without you.
HerTorah gathers together a diverse community of Jewish women to connect over our shared heritage, explore our collective wisdom, and elevate our communal experience in learning with and from one another. HerTorah is directed by Rabbanit Aliza Sperling, made possible in part by funds granted by the SRE Network, The Covenant Foundation, The Aviv Foundation, and inspired by each one of us.
This gathering welcomes women* 12+ and learners of all backgrounds.
