This film by French actress, singer, and composer Aurélie Saada tells the story of Rose (played by French screen legend Françoise Fabian, “My Night at Maud’s”), who finds herself adrift at age 78 after the sudden death of her beloved husband. As Rose works through grief and contemplates her sunset years long buried aspirations and desires emerge. Her grown children, of course, disapprove, and the family spirals into disarray.
Steeped in love, Sephardic music (composed by Saada), and food (Saada family recipes), “Rose” is an all-embracing drama about the ageless quest for fulfillment.
This film is screening in-person and virtually as part of the 34th annual Boston Jewish Film Festival.
