Join us for “The Power of Art: Preserving Memory, Teaching the Holocaust,” a panel discussion with professor Barbara Wallace Grossman, author Rachel Kadish and U.S. State Department Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues Ellen Germain, with HBI director Lisa Fishbayn Joffe as moderator.
How can art help us better understand the Holocaust and discuss its implications for today? Our panelists discuss HBI’s art exhibition, “Lives Eliminated, Dreams Illuminated,” an immersive exhibition of painting and music in the context of efforts to commemorate and educate about the Holocaust. Painter Lauren Bergman and composer Ella Milch-Sheriff honor young women and girls murdered in the Holocaust by using art to imagine the lives they might have led.
Dr. David Milch will present the Keeping Holocaust Memory Alive 2023 Award to Special Envoy Ellen Germain.
This discussion is paired with a viewing of “Lives Eliminated, Dreams Illuminated,” which is presented in partnership with the Dr. David M. Milch Foundation.
This is a hybrid event. Click “Register” to join online and click here to join in person.
