Please join us for the opening of Hebrew College’s winter art exhibit, “Reuven Rubin: Interpretations of King David.”
The exhibit will showcase a lithographic series by renowned 20th-century Israeli artist Reuven Rubin depicting the life and times of King David. From the dramatic coronation of the young shepherd-turned-king to the end of his reign, the series brings the epic story of King David to life through Rubin’s distinctive style. Rubin’s interpretation reflects the artist’s experiences and perspectives as a Romanian-born immigrant to pre-1948 Palestine who lived through the birth of the modern Jewish state and helped define the creative aesthetic of the young country’s arts scene.
“What’s so remarkable about these works is the way Rubin was able to capture the essence of these timeless biblical narratives,” says Deb Feinstein, trustee and chair of Hebrew College’s Arts Committee.
