Starting Tuesday evening, April 15, we will begin the tractate of Makkot, which is the fifth tractate in Seder Nezikin (“Order of Damages,” or issues of civil law).
Makkot focuses on three main topics related to the judicial system. The first is the topic of false witnesses, one’s exile to a city of refuge, and lashes (makkot) administered by the court in certain situations
The class meets on Zoom, no preparation or prior Talmud experience is required, and it is presented in English. We use the sefaria.org page to allow everyone to follow along.
