Since 2015, JArts has brought the Greater Boston community together to celebrate Hanukkah at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Hanukkah: The Festival of Lights reaches thousands of people each year. Our program partners with local artists and communities to create an unforgettable evening of performance, education, craft and artistic engagement for all ages.
This year, we revive our tradition and gather in-person to celebrate Hanukkah at the MFA! Join us for this exciting return and light up the season.
The evening’s events include:
- Community candle lighting, featuring “Eight Approaches,” an 8-part painting by artist Joshua Meyer.
- Welcome and remarks by Matthew Teitelbaum, director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Laura Mandel, executive director of the Jewish Arts Collaborative, and Rabbi Marc Baker, president and CEO of Combined Jewish Philanthropies.
- Musical performances, curated by Nat Seelen, artistic director of Boston’s Festival of New Jewish Music.
- Make-and-take art activities inspired by USPS Hanukkah stamp artist, Jeanette Kuvin-Oren.
- Judaica gallery tours with Simona DiNepi, curator of Judaica and Marietta Cambareri, curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture.
- “Brighter Ignited,” an illuminated traveling art exhibit that will welcome guests at the Huntington Street entrance.
Join us again for one of the most popular and joyous Hannukah celebrations in the U.S.!
