“Nothing is more important in 2024 to averting climate disaster than U.S. presidential and congressional elections in November. I state this as the parent of a 20-year-old with three grandparents who escaped Germany as teenagers just ahead of the Nazi slaughter without their parents. I increasingly see strong parallels with that time. We must protect our future by turning out climate-aware voters.”
—David L., JCAN member
In the last election, 13 million environmentalists did not vote. And when environmentalists don’t vote, politicians don’t listen. Through their efforts, the Environmental Voter Project (EVP) has turned millions of non-voting environmentalists into consistent super-voters.
Join the Jewish Climate Action Network-MA (JCAN-MA) and EVP in getting out the vote through phone calling for the November election. We need you to urge registered non-voters to vote once before November. Think of it as overcoming apathy and suppression, and building a practice of citizenship. Direct human-to-human contact has the most influence. Direct calling is the second most and it is easier. We climate-concerned, tikkun-olam-minded citizens cannot afford to stand by this year. Based on everything we have heard and seen these past seven years, nothing will affect our climate’s trajectory more than the outcome of the next election.
In partnership with fellow nonpartisan, nonprofit Environmental Voter Project, JCAN-MA has reserved three evenings when EVP’s Shannon Seigal will train us and guide us.
Please come to as many of the three evenings as you can and inform/recruit/bring along your family, friends and co-congregants as well.
