Sha’arei Shalom is hosting a community discussion, led by Rabbi Eric Gurvis, about the rise of antisemitism and what we can do about it.

We live in chaotic and challenging times. Divided politically, socially and in numerous other ways, we have witnessed an increase in attacks, verbal and physical, on various segments of American society. Notably, there has been a rising wave of concern in recent months, and even years, over the increase of antisemitic attacks and incidents. Statistics over recent years evidence a concerning and dramatic rise in the numbers of such attacks: Pittsburgh, Poway, Jersey City and recently across the New York metropolitan area. Even here in our Greater Boston area, we have witnessed incidents.

How do we make sense of this rise in antisemitism? More importantly, what can we do, as a Jewish community, and in partnership with our neighbors, to stand up against hatred and bigotry, whether it is expressed against Jews in the form of antisemitism or hate-filled speech and acts against others amongst our neighbors?
