Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, is this Tuesday, the 27th of Nissan. Unable to gather in person, we are committed to nonetheless coming together to commemorate this day.
In partnership with the local Jewish community, Striar Hebrew Academy will be leading a brief activity appropriate for children and adults.
At 10 a.m. we will gather for a roughly five-minute Zoom (password: Butterfly). We will hear a siren and then listen to a reading of Pavel Friedman’s poem “The Butterfly.”
Students and other guests will then be encouraged to go off and design butterflies (however creatively you decide) to be hung in their windows. Decorate them with words of encouragement, including the words, “Butterflies Live Here.” Hopefully we will fill the streets of Sharon with these butterflies.
When you are done, take a picture and post it to social media with the hashtag #ButterfliesLiveHere.
