Join Temple Emeth for a live music “edutainment” program exploring how Bob Dylan is very much in line with the Jewish prophetic tradition.
As one of the most important songwriters in the second half of the 20th century, Bob Dylan absorbed the wellspring of world history, art and western religious traditions, pulling from the past and building something new. He spouted deep wisdom and a castigation of immorality, both of which stem from his Jewish roots. Despite himself, he performs the role of navi, prophet, who is a truth teller or literally a “proclaimer.”
The program will feature David Wesson and Tyler Burba. Wesson is an original musician, educator and chaplain from Boston who leads the Jewish reggae band Shir David.
Burba is a songwriter in New York City whose most recent album “Existential Hymns” features original songs dealing with existential and spiritual issues.
