Dr. Dov Waxman, Co-director of Northeastern University’s Middle East Center for Peace, Culture, and Development will speak on “The Changing Jewish Relationship with Israel.” Dr. Waxman is also author of The Pursuit of Peace and the Crisis of Israeli Identity (2006), co-author of Israel’s Palestinians, The Conflict Within (2011), a regular contributor to Ha’aretz, and frequent television and radio commentator on Middle East affairs.
The strong pro-Israel consensus that once united American Jews is giving way to a growing argument over what it means to be pro-Israel. Drawing upon his research on the American Jewish community and on the recent Pew survey, Dr. Waxman will present the reasons behind this development and discuss its consequences for the future of American Jewry and for the State of Israel.
The event is sponsored by J Street Boston and co-sponsored by Temple Ahavat Achim (Gloucester), Temple Beth Shalom (Peabody), Temple Ner Tamid (Peabody), Temple Sinai (Marblehead). For more information and to pre-register, please go to www.jstreet.org/dovwaxman.
