A review of the origins of the treatment of Jews in a gentile world, including the roles of religion, nationalism and racial theories in promoting the hatred of Jews and the propagation of myths demonizing them. We will conclude with a discussion of the differences and similarities of the Jewish experience in America to the experiences of Jews across the globe.
Larry Sternberg is a research and planning consultant, educator and mentor. For more than 20 years, he taught courses in Jewish advocacy, community planning and leadership as a member of the faculty of the Brandeis Hornstein Program in Jewish Professional Leadership; he also served as director of the Brandeis Perlmutter Institute for Jewish Advocacy and as the associate director of the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies.
