Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, head of Yeshiva University’s rabbinical school and founder of Maimonides day school, was a giant of 20th-century American Modern Orthodoxy. After his death, a stack of handwritten notebooks was found in which he outlined his religious anthropology through a close reading of the opening chapters of Genesis. Published in 2005 as “The Emergence of Ethical Man,” the Rav offers a fascinating answer to the question, “What is it to be human?” Please join us for this three-part class, in which we will examine this compelling work and how it offers a vision for our own humanity.
