Central Reform Temple invites the Greater Boston community to celebrate Chanukah together and share this dramatic candle-lighting ceremony.
Central Reform Temple of Boston will offer the 11th annual presentation of “A Light Through the Ages,” a celebration of Chanukah in story, song and light. This beloved holiday tradition for people of all faiths offers a unique opportunity for the Greater Boston community to experience the inspiration and broader significance of the Festival of Lights.
Written by Rabbi Howard Berman, “A Light Through the Ages” chronicles the celebration of Chanukah and provides a dramatic overview of the history of the Jewish people. The cantata celebrates the struggle for peace, justice and religious freedom through times of darkness, and as well as those of light and triumph.
It is a serious, thoughtful and riveting theatrical presentation. This is the only Boston-area Chanukah event designed for an adult audience, of people of all faiths, sharing Jewish traditions and linking them to contemporary issues. A highlight of the program will be honoring the temple’s long-standing ties with our neighboring Christian and Muslim congregations, whose clergy and lay leaders will participate in the ceremony.
The voices of the renowned Zamir Chorale under the direction of artistic director Joshua Jacobson will accompany these timeless stories with traditional and contemporary holiday music.
