Central Reform Temple and the famed Zamir Chorale present the 10th annual presentation of “A Light Through the Ages,” a celebration of Chanukah in story, song and light. This beloved holiday tradition for people of all faiths offers a unique opportunity for the Greater Boston community to experience the inspiration and broader significance of the Festival of Lights.
This year, Central Reform Temple will honor eight distinguished Boston religious leaders, who will light the candles of the menorah, symbolically spreading the light of their and their congregations’ gifts to the life of our city.
Written by Rabbi Howard Berman, “A Light Through the Ages” chronicles the celebration of Chanukah and provides a dramatic overview of the history of the Jewish people. The cantata celebrates the struggle for peace, justice and religious freedom through times of darkness, as well as those of light and triumph. As Rabbi Berman explains, “Chanukah, with its universal message of the light of spiritual freedom and the embrace of diversity, can and should be celebrated as an interfaith experience with our friends and neighbors in the community…we offer what has become a family tradition as a holiday gift to our extended family throughout the entire Boston area.”
The voices of the renowned Zamir Chorale under the leadership of artistic director Joshua Jacobson will accompany these timeless stories with traditional and contemporary holiday music.
All are welcome to this free event. No reservations or tickets are required.
